Our story

AGRODEV was founded in 2007 by Romain Borie with the objective of addressing contemporary agricultural challenges. After gaining international experience, Romain identified a need for a structure that could combine technical expertise with a human approach, offering flexibility and responsiveness.

AGRODEV was established to promote an agricultural model based on the principles of agro-ecology, assisting farmers in transitioning from conventional practices to more sustainable and autonomous methods.

The objective was to create a company capable of popularising natural farming techniques, promoting food self-sufficiency in communities and improving food systems, particularly in island regions such as French Polynesia.

About Romain Borie

Romain Borie is an agricultural engineer and graduate of ISTOM with a career marked by international experience.

His career commenced in Ghana, where he was engaged in the development of agroforestry coffee cultivation and the production of aromatic raw materials.

Subsequently, in Madagascar, he specialised in the production of organic essential oils, thereby further developing his expertise in sustainable agriculture.

Following these experiences in Africa, Romain relocated to French Polynesia, where he established AGRODEV to provide his expertise to local and international projects. In particular, he spent ten years working on the private island of Nukutepipi, where he developed autonomous and resilient food systems. He also launched BIOFARM, a company that imports agricultural equipment to Polynesia.

These diverse experiences have enabled Romain to develop a unique ability to adapt agricultural solutions to different geographical and cultural contexts, while building a solid network of international experts.
